Weekend with the 'rents

Grandparents that is! The kids were so excited for Friday to get here because that meant Mimi and Papa were arriving. We had a fun weekend of crafts, cooking and just all out playing! We even threw in some good ole' games of duck, duck, goose and Go Fish!

Staying ahead... (yeah, right!)

No way am I ahead of anything!! This is our week basically in pictures, late afternoons on the golf course, doing some homework, mailing some birthday cards to Papa Blue (he's 87!), winning some volleyball games, and just being together. We have some special visitors coming up this weekend. The kids are super excited about seeing Mimi and Papa, especially the part about making cupcakes and breakfast.

Fashionista

It is only the beginning I know... from socks to shoes, to hairbows, to panties, to clothes... she has started developing her own opinions about her clothes. She is 2, right?! For this outfit, I picked out the dress, which must have been to her liking because she didn't protest it, but everything else is Miss Payton. From the socks being pulled up... she was adamant about this one... to the headband to the shoes... it's all her!

Afternoon play time

Our afternoon started out simple enough... coming home to spend time with the family! RJ ended up catching a frog... he touched it a couple of times too. He was super excited about this! Then he happily, let him go back into the bushes "so he could go find his family."Then Payton wanted to get her beautiful picture made, complete with ketchup and mustard stain from lunch at daycare.Next, was of course, a silly face picture. Big brother playing on our friendly turtle, notice pouty sister in the background. Not so patiently waiting her turn. Big brother helping little sister get balanced on the turtle.
Happy to see she finally got her way!

Homework

We are completing all kinds of homework projects these days... writing, coloring, decorating... recently for Payton's homework for the week we had to decorate a cutout of a house which included a family photo. So here is our most recent family photo (as of the night before it was due... ha!).

Surprised!

This little boy was super excited yesterday to see Daddy come eat lunch with him! I'm hoping to be able to go one day... once things are a little calmer around here...

ABC's

This may not seem like much to some people, but this little boy use to dislike writing and coloring so much. Just after a few short weeks of kindergarten his handwriting has improved so much as well as his coloring skills. He drew every letter by himself and even put stars by the letters that had the best behavior. :)!!! He's trying to make it all week with a sticker for good behavior so he can pick a prize from the prize bag at home. Daddy is surprising him at school today for lunch so I'm hoping he can sneak me a good picture for tomorrow!!

Happy Birthday!

We celebrated Daddy's birthday around here yesterday! I was able to sneak us away for a dinner and an over-night stay also for the surprise present. It was so nice to get away even if it was only for a day! We came home and celebrated with family and friends. What a wonderful way to finish off the long weekend.

(I almost didn't use this picture because it is slightly out-of-focus, but thanks to Ali's post today I realized it is such a sweet moment it really doesn't matter if it's a perfect picture - it is definitely the moment I want to remember.)

Gotta love nights like this...

With all the school events, volleyball games and practices we only seem to have a few nights each week when we are all home together. I definitely look forward to these nights. Nights like this:
