Brother/Sister Love

They are starting to get to the age where the pushing and shoving and the "mom, she hit me" (yes, I mean our 2 yr old girl hitting our 5 yr old boy!) is happening more and more frequent. But at times they can really play together and have fun with each other without getting hurt. This was RJ's idea to give Payton a ride on his back.

Rainbow cupcakes

Our adventure with rainbow cupcakes... the kids helped with the batter and of course, with the eating! The idea was super cute and was meant for around St. Patrick's Day, but any day is a good day for cupcakes around our house.

Childcare Service

On Sunday, our children's daycare celebrated Childcare Day during the morning worship service. The kids get to sing a couple of songs and recite a bible verse. Let me just start by saying I always find it a challenge to get good, decent pictures during these situations. You are about to see what I mean when you scroll down to the pictures. So I apologize for the blurry pictures but they are memories that we will keep and look back on with a good chuckle.

Payton is to the left of the ladies head in middle of the picture... I wanted so badly to get a good picture of her singing...
Didn't I mention he likes to make silly faces?!
Good thing that railing was there for him to prop up on...

Skylar Avery

We have welcomed a new baby into the Brooks' Family! Our niece, Skylar Avery was born on March 3. Congrats Wes, Summer and big sis' Sawyer! I had the privilege of taking some photos of her this week.

Never gets old.

To me it's always an amazing chance to see a rainbow... definitely not the best picture, but I had to take this on the go at a traffic light. Seemed fitting with St. Patty's Day just a few days away! If you actually click on the picture (to enlarge) you can see the rainbow even better.) Just wish I had my Canon with me to take the picture...

Trying new things...

This was our dinner salad last night. I saw the inspiration from Becky Higgins here. We used the rotisserie chicken from our local grocery store, added corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, mini-pepperoni, boiled eggs (whatever was left after RJ claimed 3 himself!) and cheese. I even used the low-fat ginger sesame dressing from Paul Newman. 'Delish' - (as gal pal Amy would say!!)

Breakfast for dinner

This has long been a favorite around our house. RJ LOVES breakfast food: pancakes, eggs, biscuits, and the more syrup the better. When he was a toddler (and even as a baby) he always woke up early! (He's 5 and sometimes we get the rare privilege on a Saturday to sleep till 8!)

We use to make early morning trips on the weekend to Cracker Barrell... famous for pancakes, of course. I remember him sitting in his high chair eating away at them and other couples smiling and watching him. I still love how excited he gets when I tell him we are having breakfast for dinner! We have in turn passed this love of breakfast food on to Payton. She loves eggs and biscuits and of course, with a side of syrup!
Everybody busy in the kitchen. Kids help me with the eggs - always. RJ has become an expert egg cracker! Payton helped me put the sausage in the pan and even cracked a couple of eggs on her own.

Roby cooking the eggs (he's the expert), with sausage in the back and hashbrowns in the front.

Fun playing with photoshop.

Just a little fun playing around with photoshop. Now to frame them and hang them!

Sunshine!

We got to actually spend the weekend outside! Yay! Here are some random fun pictures from the weekend.
Golfing with the family
She likes to swing on her belly
This time last year she couldn't even reach these handles. Gotta love the belly
hanging out.

Just one...

that's all I ask. Just one good picture. I'll even settle for a no-tooth grin. He's about as silly as they come right now. Why is is that my somewhat 'photogenic' son thinks this is the way to pose for pictures? I couldn't help but laugh at him when uploading these recent pictures. Maybe one day I'll get him to really smile... but I don't think it will be anytime soon!

Cavities.

Our first round of cavities. RJ headed to the dentist on Monday only to find out he had three cavities. So he headed back on Tuesday to get the first two taken care of. He did great! Mostly because the wonderful ladies at the office let him take his Nintendo DS back with him. But he couldn't feel his tongue or lips afterwards so there was a lot of this going on....
